
The East Cairo Public Prosecution ordered a four-day detention pending investigation against a Sudanese co-pilot on Tuesday for possessing crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at the Cairo Airport.
He was arrested while traveling as a passenger on a flight from Cairo to Port Sudan.
Airport security officers intercepted the Sudanese passenger—who works as a co-pilot for a Sudanese airline—carrying the drug and paraphernalia before he could board a flight operated by his own company.
The co-pilot admitted that he possessed the drugs for personal use and had exploited his airline uniform and work permit to board the aircraft without undergoing a security search.
The Public Prosecution ordered his detention for four days pending investigation and directed that he undergo a forensic drug test.
