National Bank of Egypt Launches ‘NBE Points’ App for Customer Loyalty and Rewards

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has announced the launch of a new, fully integrated application for its customer loyalty and rewards program, dubbed “NBE Points.” This initiative is designed to elevate the digital banking experience, granting customers instant access to points and benefits directly via their smartphones.

The rollout aligns with the bank’s broader strategy to expand its digital solutions and foster banking innovation. It empowers customers to seamlessly access reward services and manage their point balances without the need for additional procedures or contacting customer service.

Soha El-Turky: NBE Points Marks a Paradigm Shift in Reward Services

Soha El-Turky, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of NBE, stated that the introduction of the “NBE Points” app signifies a major milestone in the evolution of the bank’s loyalty and rewards ecosystem.

She explained that the application aims to streamline how customers redeem their points and rewards, offering a suite of immediate benefits via mobile phones in alignment with global advancements in digital banking services.

Karim Sous: The App Bolsters Merchant Partnerships

Karim Sous, Chief Executive Officer of Retail Banking at NBE, emphasized that the application strengthens the bank’s drive to forge robust partnerships with merchants, paving the way for exclusive offers and additional customer perks.

He pointed out that digital innovation is not merely about launching new services, but extends to enhancing how customers interact with banking products and facilitating their access to available benefits. Sous added that the bank plans to continuously upgrade the app, introducing new features and services in the coming period to meet evolving customer needs and market dynamics.

Hala Helmy: A Unified Platform for All Customer Points

Hala Helmy, Head of the Products and Financial Inclusion Group at NBE, clarified that the “NBE Points” app allows customers to track their total accumulated points from all participating products in one place.

These include:

  • Points earned from purchases made with credit, debit, and prepaid cards (both domestically and internationally).
  • Welcome points awarded upon joining specific banking segments.
  • Points earned through the bank’s digital services, such as Al Ahly Net, Al Ahly Mobile, and Al Ahly Phone Cash.

Key Features of the NBE Points App

Detailed Point Tracking The application offers a comprehensive breakdown of point balances for each enrolled product, clearly indicating the status of the points—whether active, pending, or canceled. It also provides customers with a detailed statement of their point transaction history for the past six months, enhancing transparency and making it easier to track rewards.

‘Shop4Cash’ for Purchase Redemption The app introduces a novel redemption method called “Shop4Cash,” which allows customers to select any purchase made within the last 30 days. Depending on the available point balance, the transaction value can be fully or partially refunded to the card used, offering customers greater flexibility in utilizing their rewards.

Direct ‘Pay with Points’ at Merchants Furthermore, the app features a “Pay with Points” option, enabling customers to use their points directly at participating merchants instead of relying on electronic vouchers. This service allows for full or partial payment of purchases using points. The transaction is securely completed by sharing the customer’s national ID (for retail clients) or CIF number (for corporate clients) and submitting a One-Time Password (OTP).

Redeeming Points for Cash Rewards The program also permits the redemption of points for financial rewards. Customers can convert their points into fixed cash values, which are then credited to any of their active local-currency credit cards. These redemptions can be seamlessly executed through the “NBE Points” app or the program’s dedicated website, providing customers with versatile digital channels to maximize their rewards.
