A consortium led by B Investments intends to raise its stake in European Universities to 40%.

The company is studying 3 to 4 new investment opportunities in the education sector

Informed sources revealed to Daily News Egypt that a coalition of investors led by B Investments Holding Company intends to raise its stake in the Scientific Research, Education and Development Company, which owns the educational entity operating under the name “European Universities in Egypt,” to more than 40%, by participating in a new capital increase for the company during the coming period.

The sources added that the alliance is planning to pump additional investments ranging between 500 and 700 million pounds as part of a capital increase that is expected to be completed within days, which will raise its combined ownership in the company from about 25% currently to more than 40% after the increase is completed.

She explained that this step comes within B Investments’ strategy to expand into sectors with high growth rates, led by food and beverages, education and health care, which represent the company’s main investment priorities during the next stage.

She pointed out that the upcoming investment represents a continuation of the company’s entry into the Egyptian higher education sector, as B Investments had pumped about 560 million pounds into “European universities in Egypt” last April, in its first investment in this sector.
She added that the company is studying in parallel a number of new investment opportunities in the education sector, ranging between 3 and 4 opportunities that include K-12 schools and universities operating in the Egyptian market, benefiting from the continuous growth in demand for educational services and the expected expansion in the number of students during the coming years.

The sources expected that the education sector would witness more deals and investments during the coming period, in light of increasing interest from local and regional investors in the sector, driven by its ability to achieve stable returns and long-term growth opportunities.
