REUTERS\/David Gray \t\t\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed a significant surge in Egyptian exports to China, reaching 199.8 percent during the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>This brought bilateral trade between the two countries to US$11.3 billion, despite the continued widening trade deficit in favor of China, whose imports were primarily concentrated in the electrical machinery and automotive sectors.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Whopping 199.8 Percent Jump<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>CAPMAS issued a report reviewing economic relations between Egypt and China, revealing that the value of Egyptian exports to China rose to $ 840.8 million during the first half of 2026, compared to $ 280.5 million during the same period in 2025, representing a 199.8 percent increase.<\/p>\n<p>The value of Egyptian imports from China reached $ 10.4 billion during the first half of 2026, compared to $ 9.1 billion during the same period in 2025, reflecting a 14.3 percent increase.<\/p>\n<p>This indicates that the value of trade exchange between the two countries will increase to $ 11.3 billion during the first half of 2026, compared to $9.3 billion during the same period in 2025, an increase of 21.5 percent.<\/p>\n<h3>Egypt\u2019s Top Exports<\/h3>\n<p>The most important commodity groups exported by Egypt to China during the first half of 2026 were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fuels, mineral oils, and their distillation products, valued at $ 494 million<\/li>\n<li>Vegetables and fruits ($150.6 million)<\/li>\n<li>Cotton and vegetable textile fibers ($ 76.4 million)<\/li>\n<li>Natural calcium phosphate ($ 31 million) organic and inorganic chemical products ($ 21 million).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Cars Lead Imports<\/h3>\n<p>The most important commodity groups imported by Egypt from China during the first half of 2026 were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Machinery and electrical and mechanical appliances ($4.1 billion)<\/li>\n<li>Cars, tractors, and bicycles ($1.2 billion)<\/li>\n<li>Iron and steel and their products ($930.7 million)<\/li>\n<li>Plastics and their products ($524 million)<\/li>\n<li>Organic and inorganic chemical products ($423.7 million).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Remittances from Egyptian in China<\/h3>\n<p>Remittances from Egyptians working in China reached $23.3 million during the 2024\/2025 fiscal year, compared to $19.5 million during the 2023\/2024 fiscal year. Meanwhile, remittances from Chinese workers in Egypt amounted to $3.5 million during the 2024\/2025 fiscal year, compared to $3.1 million during the 2023\/2024 fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>Egypt\u2019s population was recorded at 109.4 million in August 2026, while China\u2019s population was 1.4 billion during the same period.<\/p>\n<p>The number of Egyptians residing in the People\u2019s Republic of China, according to the embassy\u2019s estimates, reached 8,000 by the end of 2024.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Chinese flag flies in front of the Great Wall of China, located north of Beijing August 18, 2007.
