The New Capital project would see around USD 2.8 bn in investment, while the New Alamein development would draw another USD 2.5 bn. The government and consortium are still working toward final technical, financial, and regulatory terms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why it matters:<\/strong> The two medical cities will include medical research, education, and training facilities and are intended to capture medical tourism demand, with the New Alamein project featuring integrated hotels serving patients and their families. The consortium projects that the New Capital hospital alone will attract over 3 mn medical tourists during its first three years of operation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citizens have a share:<\/strong> The government would receive an unspecified share of the beds for the universal health ins. system, according to the statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REMEMBER-<\/strong> The New Capital medical city has been in the works under a different proposed structure. The government was seeking USD 1 bn from Chinese banks <a href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2025\/07\/09\/pushing-ahead-with-dabaa-nuclear-plant-construction\/\" target=\"_blank\">last year<\/a> to finance a 230-feddan development set to be built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation. It is unclear whether the new consortium proposal replaces or expands that earlier plan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\"><strong>Beyond the showroom<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"wwtt2\"\/><strong>Ezz Elarab Elsewedy Investments (ESI) signed a<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/almalnews.com\/2128149\/%C2%AB%D8%B9%D8%B2-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A8-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%88%D9%8A%D8%AF%D9%8A%C2%BB-%D8%AA%D9%88%D9%82%D9%91%D8%B9-%D8%B4%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%83%D8%A9-%D9%85%D8%B9-%C2%AB%D8%A3%D9%88%D9%85%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>EGP 5 bn partnership<\/strong><\/a> <strong>with Chery-owned auto brands<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/omodajaecoo.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Omoda and Jaecoo<\/strong><\/a> <strong>to assemble their models locally.<\/strong> The investment will go toward establishing and developing the facilities through the group\u2019s automotive manufacturing arm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The partnership is targeting higher local-content levels and a domestic supplier base, alongside technology transfer and future exports.<\/strong> The companies did not disclose which models will be produced, the planned capacity, the location of the facilities, or when production will begin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IN CONTEXT-<\/strong> Omoda and Jaecoo were already eyeing an Egypt entry in <a href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2024\/11\/20\/chinese-automaker-faw-to-return-to-the-market-with-new-local-agent-plus-arab-contractors-orascom-investment-icon-wadi-degla-developments-mg-development-egypt-castings\/\" target=\"_blank\">late 2024<\/a> before appointing ESI as their local agent. The new project also comes on the heels of ESI\u2019s USD 100 mn auto manufacturing expansion plan announced <a href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2025\/02\/27\/ezz-elsewedy-to-pump-usd-100-mn-into-auto-manufacturing\/\" target=\"_blank\">in February 2025<\/a>, though it is unclear whether the EGP 5 bn investment falls within that existing envelope.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\"><strong>One company, one number<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"wwtt3\"\/><strong>Banks have until December 2026 to complete profiles for all corporate borrowers in the Central Bank of Egypt\u2019s (CBE) corporate national database<\/strong>, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2026\/8\/217.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">CBE circular (pdf)<\/a> issued on Tuesday. Lenders have until the end of June 2027 to compile basic profiles for their non-borrowing corporate depositors, with all corporate files subject to mandatory monthly updates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The unified commercial registry number will serve as the primary key to link corporate data across the financial system.<\/strong> Banks will use verified registry data to complete companies\u2019 core information and later add the number to I-Score and the CBE\u2019s credit-registration system once the necessary infrastructure is ready. The CBE expects the database to give it a more accurate picture of corporate financial inclusion and support policies aimed at bringing more businesses into the financial system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IN CONTEXT-<\/strong> The CBE is tightening data reporting across the wider credit market. Banks were barred <a href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2026\/05\/19\/cbe-tightens-oversight-on-nbfis-banking-amid-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\">earlier this year<\/a> from granting or renewing credit to non-bank lenders unless they were coded with the central bank and reporting customer information to both the CBE and I-Score.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\"><strong>Data point<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>USD 56.29 bn \u2014 that\u2019s where our net foreign reserves stood at the end of July<\/strong>, rising USD 1.22 bn from June to a fresh record, according to the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbe.org.eg\/en\/news-publications\/news\/2026\/08\/05\/07\/21\/net-international-reserves-at-the-end-of-july-2026\" target=\"_blank\">central bank data<\/a>.
