General Motors Egypt announced its welcome to the Egyptian government’s decision to trust the American Federal Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), during a visit by a number of senior government officials to the General Motors Egypt factory in the city of 6th of October, where they confirmed their trust in these standards, which will contribute to expanding the options available to customers in the local market.<\/p>\n

The announcement ceremony was hosted by Rohan Fernandez, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Motors of Egypt and Africa, in the presence of Mr. Stephen Haynes, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis, Robert Silverman, Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires at the Embassy of the United States of America, Mr. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, and Mr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, for an inspection of the manufacturing process inside the factory.<\/p>\n

In this context, Fernandez, Chairman and CEO-elect of General Motors of Egypt and Africa, said: “We welcome General Motors of Egypt to the agreement signed with the Egyptian government to adopt the American Federal Vehicle Safety Standards (FVMSS). This step represents a milestone for the Egyptian automotive sector and a positive step towards a more open and transparent market for vehicles and parts manufactured in the United States, in line with General Motors’ 100-year commitment to the Middle East and Africa, which began in Egypt, supporting the growth and development of the automotive sector.”<\/p>\n

And for General Motors Egypt, this step provides a more efficient and clear regulatory framework to access the Egyptian market, which has already contributed to the return of the Cadillac brand to Egypt last May. This step reflects how the regulatory developments can translate into concrete economic and commercial results, by expanding the options available to the Egyptian consumer, promoting fair competition between international companies, and strengthening Egypt’s position as a promising strategic market for the automobile industry.<\/p>\n

In May, General Motors, in partnership with Al-Mansour Motors, announced the official return of the Cadillac brand to the Egyptian market through a range of luxury cars based on electric vehicles, combining the brand’s long-standing heritage with its global vision of a future based entirely on electric vehicles.<\/p>\n

The new collection also offers the latest generation of Cadillac cars in Egypt, including OPTIQ, LYRIQ, VISTIQ, ESCALADE IQ, ESCALADE IQL, and ESCALADE. Together, these models offer Egyptian customers one of the most advanced SUV collections in the sector, across compact, medium and large-size categories, with a strong focus on luxury performance powered by electric vehicles.<\/p>\n

US Assistant Secretary of Commerce, Stephen Haynes, expressed his happiness during the announcement of this step, saying: “I am pleased that Egypt has opened a clear path to significantly increase the export of American cars and parts to Egypt, based on the export of American cars that exceeded the value of 256 million US dollars last year. These changes will allow Egyptian consumers greater opportunities to obtain safe, reliable and high-quality American cars and parts, and will contribute to the promotion of economic opportunities in Both countries.”<\/p>\n

It is expected that the new regulations, by facilitating the importation of American vehicles and components, will enhance market competitiveness and reduce costs for Egyptian consumers, as well as support the attractiveness of Egypt as a destination for foreign investment in the automotive sector.<\/p>\n

And for General Motors Egypt, this agreement is the completion of the company’s long-term industrial presence and industrial partnerships in Egypt, which has been established for more than four decades, and represents a practical model of how to translate the policy agreement between the United States of America and Egypt into concrete business results for American automobiles and Egyptian consumers alike.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
