Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly toured a series of tourism, residential and strategic infrastructure projects at the Marina Tourist Centre and New Alamein City on Tuesday, reviewing progress on Marina 8, M8 by the Lake, the southern lakes water renewal station and the Bo Gaz New Marina coastal tunnel as part of the government\u2019s drive to accelerate development along Egypt\u2019s North Coast.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Minister Randa El-Menshawy said the projects reflect the state\u2019s strategy to strengthen tourism and real estate investment while creating integrated waterfront communities supported by advanced infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Marina 8 nearing completion<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Madbouly inspected the Marina 8 project, which combines tourist housing with the redevelopment of a historic lakeside area.<\/p>\n

Located between Marina 2 and Marina 3 and close to New Alamein City, the project is designed to benefit from direct connectivity to major tourism and urban destinations across the Marina Alamein area.<\/p>\n

El-Menshawy said Marina 8 forms part of the government\u2019s plan to boost tourism and urban investment by offering premium residential units, waterfront views, landscaped areas and integrated recreational facilities.<\/p>\n

Ahmed Mostafa, Head of the Tourist Villages Authority, said the project consists of two main components.<\/p>\n

The first is a tourist housing development spanning 104 feddans and comprising 246 buildings with a total of 927 residential units, including villas, chalets and apartment buildings.<\/p>\n

Construction has reached an advanced stage, with overall implementation standing at 91%, while 564 units\u2014representing 61% of the total\u2014are ready for delivery to customers.<\/p>\n

The development also features swimming pools, extensive green spaces and direct lakefront views designed to provide a high-quality leisure environment.<\/p>\n

The second component focuses on reviving the area\u2019s archaeological heritage across 75 feddans.<\/p>\n

According to Mostafa, restoration works have reached 65% completion and aim to transform the historic site into a distinctive tourism destination while preserving its architectural character.<\/p>\n

Madbouly also inspected model residential units and reviewed progress on service facilities, landscaping, roadworks and infrastructure networks, including water, wastewater, irrigation and electricity systems.<\/p>\n

The prime minister directed officials to accelerate work on the remaining phases to meet scheduled completion dates while maintaining the highest standards in finishing works, landscaping and architectural preservation.<\/p>\n

M8 by the Lake reaches 95% completion<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the start of his tour, Madbouly visited M8 by the Lake, a mixed-use development overlooking the southern lakes, along with the project\u2019s water renewal station.<\/p>\n

He described the development as one of the area\u2019s flagship projects, saying it would add significant tourism and investment value to the Marina region thanks to its strategic location south of the coastal highway overlooking the lakes.<\/p>\n

El-Menshawy said the project represents a modern model of integrated urban development and forms part of the state\u2019s vision to maximise the value of land south of the coastal road through tourism, entertainment and real estate investment.<\/p>\n

The first phase covers 195 feddan and has reached approximately 95% completion, with preparations already underway to launch the second phase.<\/p>\n

Mostafa said the project will include around 1,183 residential units, ranging from villas to apartment buildings, supported by fully integrated infrastructure and utility networks to create a comprehensive tourism and residential community.<\/p>\n

\"Madbouly<\/p>\n

Strategic water renewal station<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Madbouly also reviewed operations at the southern lakes water renewal station, which transfers water from the southern lakes to the northern lakes to maintain water quality and environmental balance.<\/p>\n

Mostafa described the facility as one of the region\u2019s most strategic infrastructure projects, serving as the primary hydraulic link between the northern and southern lakes.<\/p>\n

The station has a design capacity of approximately 280,000 cubic metres per day and is equipped with duplex stainless steel pumps and components engineered to withstand highly saline conditions.<\/p>\n

According to Mostafa, the system renews water in the southern lakes every five to six days, helping improve water quality, prevent stagnation and preserve environmental sustainability while supporting tourism and recreational activities throughout New Marina.<\/p>\n

Coastal tunnel to connect northern and southern lakes<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

The prime minister also inspected the Bo Gaz New Marina coastal tunnel project, another key component of the Marina development plan.<\/p>\n

El-Menshawy said the project aims to connect Marina\u2019s northern lakes with the southern New Marina lakes through a water tunnel that will improve water circulation, reduce stagnation and enhance the environmental quality of the lakes, while increasing the area\u2019s tourism and investment appeal.<\/p>\n

She stressed that the Housing Ministry continues intensive field monitoring to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and in line with the highest quality standards.<\/p>\n

Mostafa said the tunnel measures 16 metres in width and nearly 650 metres in length, providing hydraulic connectivity between the water bodies and improving the overall efficiency of the lake system.<\/p>\n

Madbouly viewed a presentation demonstrating boat movement through the tunnel and inspected ongoing lining works.<\/p>\n

The project includes the construction of 655 reinforced concrete piles, each measuring 1.5 metres in diameter and extending between 42 and 48 metres below ground to ensure structural stability.<\/p>\n

Construction began in April 2025, with full completion scheduled by the end of 2026.<\/p>\n
