The Dar al-Salam District Headquarters in Cairo announced it has implemented new measures to regulate Tuk-tuk traffic starting Saturday, October 10.
These measures include banning the vehicles from operating on several major roads and thoroughfares within the district, as part of efforts to reduce traffic congestion and maintain order on the streets.
According to the district administration, the ban applies to the Nile Corniche, the Service Road (slow lane), the Ring Road, the Cairo-Helwan Agricultural Road, and the Fayoum Road.
The administration noted that the period leading up to the implementation involved awareness campaigns targeting Tuk-tuk drivers to inform them of the restricted routes and emphasize the necessity of complying with the new regulations.
Ban on Tuk-tuks
The relevant authorities confirmed that violating this decision will result in the confiscation of any Tuk-tuk found operating on the designated roads.
The same measures will apply to Tuk-tuk vehicles driving against the flow of traffic, as part of efforts to curb traffic violations, ensure public safety, and maintain smooth traffic flow.
The district administration urged Tuk-tuk drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and guidelines.
It also called for raising awareness among drivers—particularly those under the age of 18—regarding the necessity of respecting traffic rules and cooperating with competent authorities to ensure the decision is implemented and street violations are reduced.
