Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty, praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Latvia during his meeting on Monday, September 21, 2026, with Baiba Braže, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s keenness to strengthen and advance these relations through the exchange of high-level visits and continued coordination and consultation between both sides, expressing looking forward to expanding bilateral ties to broader horizons, particularly in trade and economic fields, through the regular holding of bilateral cooperation mechanisms.
In this context, Abdelatty highlighted the importance of strengthening trilateral cooperation with Latvia on the African continent, allowing for the utilization of Egypt’s strategic geographic location as a gateway for European exports into African nations.
The two ministers exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, chief among them the Iranian file, ways to de-escalate tensions in the region, developments in the Palestinian cause, and the Ukrainian crisis.
Both sides stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to give political pathways and negotiations room to reach peaceful solutions to these crises, thereby contributing to the enhancement of security and stability at both regional and international levels.
